Youth Ministry

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

Our Mission

To encourage our youth to become deeply rooted in Christ in order to grow spiritually and to assist in fulfilling the great commission among all youth in the church and the community through evangelism and discipleship by knowing, understanding and believing what it means to follow Jesus Christ.

Our Purpose

The youth ministry of Shiloh Baptist Church exists to bring children into WORSHIP where they can BELONG to the family of God, GROW in their relationship with Christ, learn to SERVE and then go SHARE Christ in the community and the world.

Our Goals

Encourage our youth to have a personal relationship with Christ and to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. Our desire is to build one another up in faith, to care for one another and to pray constantly for each other that we may be effective Christians in our church, at home, at school and in our community. To accomplish this, we must focus on the following areas:

  • Help teens develop a faith that says, “I believe in God, not because my parents say so, or because my youth minister or preacher says so, but because I have experienced and know God in my life.”
  • Promote training, Bible classes, reading and studying the Word.
  • Attendance -  "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name." A stronger church is evidenced by the number of active members, those who invest time through, energy and money, the better it will be to see our vision.
  • Involve teens in daily Bible study and prayer. Instead of simply asking your group to read the Bible and pray daily, provide the opportunity and tools to make it.
  • Build a Christ-like attitude and spirit into the youth.
  • Develop quality leadership among the group.
  • Establish positive relationships with other youth groups in the area. If we are not careful, ministry can become a competition where "the leader with the most teens wins."
  • Parental support and participation.
  • Include teens as part of the congregation.
  • Equip teens to go into all the world and teach the Gospel.
